Baring unforeseen circumstances, the political crisis in Rivers State may be resolved ahead of the six months period of emergency rule.

As a prelude to the resolution, Forefront News gathered that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had a secret meeting with suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike in the United Kingdom.

It was gathered that the secret meeting was kept off the prying eyes of journalists as the President who left France for the United Kingdom ensured a conclusive agreement between Governor Fubara and the 27 legislators.

A close source privy to the meeting told Forefront News on condition of anonymity that President Tinubu achieved a major truce between the two blocs involved in the political crisis in Rivers State.

According to the source; “I can tell you that one of the main reasons President Tinubu stayed longer than expected from Nigeria after embarking on a two week holiday was to ensure a conclusive discussion between Governor Fubara and the 27 Pro-Wike Assembly members”.

The source further said that the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike was not in the know of the abrupt and closed meeting which held without his knowledge.

It was also gathered that at the meeting Governor Fubara was advised to join the All Progressive Congress (APC) to support President Tinubu to save his political career.

President Tinubu, who returned to the country on Monday night, used the opportunity of Fubara and the 27 pro-Wike legislators holidaying in London to broker the peace meeting.

It is expected that in days or weeks to come, President Tinubu may find a political solution to reversing the declaration of the State of Emergency in Rivers against the backdrop of the gazette of the emergency rule.
