President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new board and management team for the National Hajj Commission (NAHCOM), pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
A statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, stated that President Tinubu, in his resolve to ensure hitch-free and seamless 2024 Hajj operations, appointed Jala Arabi as Chairman (in office) of the Board of NAHCOM while Aliu Abdulrazaq will serve as Commissioner in-charge of Policy, Personnel, & Finance.
Others appointed into the Board of NAHCOM include; Prince Anofi Elegushi — Commissioner for Operations and Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal — Commissioner in-charge of Planning & Research,
The zonal representation on the Board include; Dr. Muhammad Umaru Ndagi — North Central, Abba Jato Kala — North East, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman — North West, Tajudeen Oladejo Abefe — South West, Aishat Obi Ahmed — South East and Zainab Musa — South South.
Others are Professor Musa Inuwa Fodio who will represent the Jama’atul Nasril Islam and Professor Adedimeji Mahfouz Adebola representing the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs on the Board.
President Tinubu mandated the appointees to dedicate themselves to the task of ensuring that operations of the National Hajj Commission are more efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
