President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has constituted a high powered reconciliation committee for the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The committee is to be chaired by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, who also chaired the reconciliation committee of the Party in Bauchi State about four months ago.
Other members of the committee include Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State; Senator Abdulaziz Yari; former House of Reps Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.
The Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Prof. Jake Dan-Azumi, will serve as the Secretary to the committee, while the Chief of Staff to the governor of Yobe State, Abdullahi Gashua, will be a member of the secretariat.
The Abbas-led reconciliation team for the Benue State APC is expected to address and resolve the internal crisis within the party.
The terms of reference of the committee include: to investigate the root causes of fractionalisation and disunity in the Benue APC; engage key stakeholders and party organs to achieve purposeful reconciliation; propose structural, procedural, and strategic reforms for sustainable peace and political cohesion.
The team is expected to submit a comprehensive report with recommendations for presidential consideration.
It was gathered that the committee which is expected to commence its assignment in earnest will be engaging with all the relevant stakeholders.
