The presidency on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 reacted to the steps slip suffered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Eagle Square, venue of the Democracy Day celebration, saying that there was no issue with the slip.
A Presidential aide, Mr Olusegun Dada in a post on social media, specifically on X, formerly Twitter, said that the slip did not affect President Tinubu.
Dada in a post on his handle not long after the incident, said: “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped.
“It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.
“He was quickly rushed up by his Aide-de-Camp and lifted up. He immediately took his position with apparent no other injuries and proceeded with the patrol,” Dada stressed.
President Tinubu slipped while climbing a parade vehicle shortly after he arrived the Eagle Square for an inspection of parade mounted by both military and para-military agencies.
The President was however quickly aided by his Aide-de-Camp, who lifted him up and immediately took his position in the parade vehicle.
Dada did not however use the video of the presidential fall to pass his message.
The video of the fall is, however, trending on the social media with several Nigerians expressing their divergent views on the slip.
Some even brought the video of President Joe Biden of the United States missing his steps while boarding Air Force One to illustrate the fact that the fall by President Tinubu was nothing unusual.
