Presidential Poll Outcome: PDP Caucus Meets Today
Still smarting from their defeat in the February 23 Presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today, Monday, March 4 hold an emergency national caucus meeting in Abuja.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of party is depending on the Forum to galvanise members’ support for its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s decision to approach the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal over the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan confirmed the meeting in a special announcement issued in abuja late on Sunday night and titled: ‘PDP HOLDS EXPANDED CAUCUS MEETING’
With the National Chairman, Uche Secondus presiding, the meeting will take place at the Wadata Plaza Secretariat of the party in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja by 12noon.
Though Party insiders are upbeat about the Caucus meeting, they are mute on details of its agenda, maintain that the present times demand the PDP keeps its planned moves closely-knitted and away from what they described as possible ‘saboteurs’ within.
Competent sources however hinted that aside its focus on the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly elections, the Caucus also has its eyes on the March 9 gubernatorial and state Houses of Assembly polls.
The sources confirmed that candidate Atiku will use the opportunity to further solicit support from party members at all levels in challenging at the Tribunal what he described as ‘rigged election’ by President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC)
He is also expected to brief the Caucus on the work being done by his legal team already constituted to pursue the case at the election Tribunal.
