The nationwide protest against #Badgovernance, hunger and corruption on Thursday took a different dimension in Kano as some miscreants and thugs vandalised and set the office of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), in Kano ablaze.
Similarly, a filling station and Rufaida shop were also set ablaze by the hoodlums that took advantage of the nationwide protest.
Some of the youths that participated in the protest which initially started on a peaceful note, were seen armed with dangerous weapons and took over major roads in Kano.
The newly constructed office of the NCC is scheduled for commissioning next week.
This was as it was gathered that in the Hotoro the Kano Municipal Area, shops were closed.
As a result of the quantum of destruction, some residents appealed to the authorities to take immediate action to restore order and protect lives and property in the state.
One of the residents, Isa Musa, who said he lives at Charanchi in Gwale Local Government Area of the State, described the situation as a threat to humanity.
Musa said that there was the urgent need for the Nigeria police to deploy additional personnel to the area to address the deteriorating security situation and restore order.
He stressed that the situation required urgent and proactive action to ensure the safety and security of residents, property and for the maintenance of law and order in the metropolis.
