BY AHMED TUKUR – The Qatar Charity Foundation has announced plans to construct schools, mosques and solar-powered boreholes across designated communities in the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State.

The Country Director of the foundation, Assam Abu Al-Shaer, announced this at a meeting with the Senior Special Assistant on Liaison to the Nasarawa State Governor, Yusuf Maiangwa, at the foundation’s office in Katampe, Abuja.

Al-Shaer said the contract for the projects would be awarded once the Nasarawa State Government provides suitable lands and identifies the locations where the projects would be sited.

He said the projects, which were initially earmarked about four years ago, were designed to improve the living conditions of the less privileged members of the society.

“As soon as the government provides the land, contracts will be awarded for the commencement of the projects,” he said.

The country director attributed the delay in executing the projects to poor communication and the lack of adequate information and data on the lands required for the projects.

Al-Shaer, however, assured the Nasarawa State government that the foundation would fulfil its commitment once the required lands and their locations were provided.

Earlier, Maiangwa assured the foundation that the state government would forward details of the available lands and their locations to allow for the commencement of the projects.

The meeting was part of efforts to revive and facilitate the implementation of the projects earlier earmarked for Nasarawa State.
