BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Operatives of the Nigeria police, Bauchi State command, have arrested two suspects in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, threat to life, and attempted kidnapping in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.

The arrests followed the activities of the anti-kidnapping operations of the police across Bauchi State which resulted in the successful stopping of a kidnap attempt.

The breakthrough by operatives of Bununu Division of the Nigeria police followed credible intelligence received 10 days earlier from a concerned citizen.

The police intelligence gathering revealed that a male resident of Machiyar Kuka Village was being threatened via phone calls by unknown persons who demanded the sum of N1.5 million as ransom or should be prepared to be kidnapped and killed if he fails to comply.

However, in a swift and coordinated response to prevent the crime, detectives from Bununu Division initiated covert operations which led to the arrest of one Sanusi Muhammad 25 years old of Tallaran Village on September 11, 2026 at about 0130hrs while attempting to receive the ransom.

It was gathered that during preliminary investigation and interrogation, the suspect named one Idris Aliyu 20 years old as his accomplice.

Acting on the lead, operatives promptly apprehended the second suspect after which both suspects have made voluntary confessions to the crime.

Accordingly, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.

A statement by the Spokesperson of the police command in Bauchi State, SP Nafiu Habib, stated that the Commissioner of Police for the Bauchi State command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers for their professionalism and prompt action, and also appreciated the citizen who provided timely information.

CP Aliyu reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities or threats to the nearest Police Station
