BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – The Islamic Society of Eggon land in Nasarawa State (ISE) has distributed food items and beverages to no fewer than 103 prison inmates in Wamba Prison and 100 patients in hospitals across the state.
The beneficiaries were mainly from Nasarawa South constituency that consists of Nasarawa–Eggon, Akwanga and Wamba Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the event, Secretary of the organization, Abdullahi Umar Galle, said the donation is part of the group’s humanitarian services to communities.
Galle said the food items are to assist patients and prison inmates during the period of Ramadan as part of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He explained that the organization always identify with the needy and try to assist and urged those in position of authority and the rich in the society to always assist the needy.
While at the Wamba prison, Galle urged the inmates to pray in this period of Ramadan for God to assist them in their plight.
He further said; “The prison is not the end of life but God has a reason for you to be here, pray to him to come to your assistance in this auspicious period of Ramadan”.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Prison authorities, ASP Sidi ShuaIb thanked the organization and urged other spirited individual to emulate the organization.
Shuaib said that the food items will go a long way in assisting the inmates at this material time saying that the prison service is trying its best to ensure that the inmates are well taken care off.
At the Akwanga General Hospital, Dr Gonji Thomas, who received the organization and took them round the hospital, said that the organization is the first in recent time to offer such assistance to patients.
Gonji expressed gratitude to the organization and prayed to God to guide them.
Hospitals visited include Akwanga General Hospital, Nasarawa-Eggon General Hospital, Mokwa Private Clinic, Nasarawa-Eggon and three Primary Health Care Centers (PHC) in Nasarawa-Eggon.
