BY COBHAM NSA – The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total sum of N2.001 trillion to the Federal Government, States and the Local Government Councils as their July 2025 revenue from the federation account.
Rising from its August 2025 meeting held in Abuja, FAAC explained that the N2.001 trillion total distributable revenue comprised statutory revenue of N1,282.872 trillion, Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N640.610 billion, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) revenue of N37.601 billion, and Exchange Difference of N39.745 billion.
According to the FAAC communiqué, the total gross revenue of N3,836.980 trillion was available in July 2025 while total deduction for cost of collection came to N152,681 billion with total transfers, interventions, refunds and savings amounting to N1,683.471 trillion.
The communiqué further indicated that N3,070.127 trillion was received as the gross statutory revenue for the month, representing about N415.108 billion lower than the June 2025 figure of N3,485.235 trillion
However, the gross revenue of N687.940 billion available from the Value Added Tax (VAT) in July 2025 was higher by N9.775 billion than the N678.165 billion that accrued in the month of June.
Additional breakdown by the communiqué indicated that from the N2,000.828 trillion total distributable revenue, the Federal Government received total sum of N735.081 billion; the State Governments got N660.349 billion; the Local government Council received N485.039 billion, while the sum of N120.359 billion, being 13 percent of mineral revenue, was distributed to the benefiting State as derivation revenue.
Of the N1,282.872 trillion distributable statutory revenue, the communiqué said the Federal Government got N613.805 billion, the State Governments received N311.330 billion, the Local Government Councils got N240.023 billion and N117.714 billion was shared to the benefiting States as 13 percent mineral derivation revenue.
Additionally, the N640.610 billion Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue saw the Federal Government receiving N96.092 billion, the State Governments got N320.305 billion and the Local Government Councils smiled home with N224.214 billion.
A total sum of N5.640 billion was received by the Federal Government from the N37.601 billion Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) revenue, the State Governments got N18.801 billion and the Local Government Councils received N13.160 billion.
Also from the N39.745 billion Exchange Difference, N19.544 billion went to the Federal Government’s coffers; the State Governments got N9.913 billion; the Local Government Councils received N7.643 billion, while the benefiting States shared N2.643 billion as 13 percent mineral derivation revenue.
Meanwhile, a statement by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, OAGF, said that the Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Oil and Gas Royalty, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) and Excise Duty increased significantly in the month of July 2025.
The statement further explained that while Value Added Tax (VAT) and Import Duty increased marginally, Companies Income Tax (CIT) and CET Levies recorded decreases during the month under review.
