Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, on Monday, March 17, 2025, commenced the mapping of the road towards the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Towards this end, the legislators have accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu of gross misconduct.
As a preamble to their ultimate action, the members of the House of Assembly have raised the allegation in a notice addressed to Speaker Martin Amaewhule.

In the notice, the House of Assembly members claimed that their action was in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.
The notice read in part; “In compliance with Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and other extant laws, we the undersigned members of the Rivers State House of Assembly hereby forward to you a Notice of Gross Misconduct by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State in the performance of the functions of her office”.
Expectedly, the notice has sent jitters into the political spine of the Executive arm of government, thus raised the political temperature in the State.
This is also coming on the heels of the threat by Ijaw youths, kinsmen of Fubara, to plunge the State into chaos with oil installations coming under serious attacks.
