Rivers: I Won’t Be Involved In Dirty Political Fights – Gov Fubara Says
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, has declared that he is determined not to get involved in dirty political fights in state.
Fubara, who said this on Monday, January 1, 2024, while addressing Rivers people at the maiden State Banquet organised by his administration at the Government House, Port Harcourt, said that some of the decisions taken were for peace to reign, but certainly not borne out of fear.
He particularly appealed to the citizens of the State to embrace the ongoing peace process at the instance of President Bola Tinibu, stressing that his administration would not allow itself to be enmeshed in any dirty political war that would hinder the promising prospects of development in the state.
In the words of Fubara; “Every decision that we have taken is not borne out of fear but, because we have the interest of our people and we have respect for elders.
“We need this peace because our intention for the state is not for our personal interest but that of the development of the state,” he said.
A statement by Boniface Onyedi, spokesman to Governor Fubara, said that the Fubara-led administration was determined to live a legacy of unity and development in Rivers State and not a legacy of political apprehension.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo expressed gratitude to God, saying that in spite of the political turbulence in the state, Governor Fubara remain focused on dispensing the dividends of democracy in the state.
Danagogo said that Rivers State was blessed to have a governor that was “calculated, humble, honest and hardworking”.
He therefore urged the people to be apostles of peace, truth and justice for the state to continue on a trajectory of greatness.
