…Castigates supporters of governor over airport reception
Signs indicating that it is not yet Uhuru in the search for needed peace for reinstated Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State have started to raise their heads.
One of such signs was the salvo fired by Bright Amaewhule, the President General of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), in which he openly castigated Governor Fubara for acceding to a grand reception at the Port Harcourt International Airport to welcome him back to the State last Friday.
He particularly questioned why the supporters of Fubara did not extend the same gesture to members of the State House of Assembly by equally organising a welcome reception for the legislators.
Amaewhule pointedly said that such selective recognition only deepens political divisions and will further worsen the situation on ground.
Amaewhule, a known staunch supporter of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, said what is expected of Fubara was to initiate a meeting with leaders from the former governor’s camp with a view to foster reconciliation and not grandstanding.
Amaewhule, who stated these when he featured on Nigeria Info FM’s Morning CrossFire, Amaewhule, emphasised that Fubara ought not to have permitted such a jamboree gathering.
According to him; “The crowd of supporters that gathered at the Port Harcourt International Airport only gathered to show hostility towards members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and nothing more”.
Amaewhule further said that bridging the wide gap between Fubara and Wike’s loyalists was necessary for the smooth running of the state, stressing that the governor must initiate that process in his own interest or have himself to blame.
He further said; “The loyalists of the FCT Minister are waiting patiently for the governor to initiate a meeting with their leaders to foster reconciliation”.
