Rumors Of Attack On University Of Abuja, Baseless – FCT Police

BY NGOZI NWANKWO, ABUJA – The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has described as baseless, the rumors trending online of an alleged planned unscrupulous activities intended for abduction at the University of Abuja Campus by unspecified individuals.

Spokesperson of the FCT Police command, SP Josephine Adeh, who discarded the rumors in a statement on Sunday, said the reports are nothing but baseless publications propagated by rumour mongers aiming at creating unfounded panic and apprehension among FCT residents and the University community.

Adeh said; “The Command hereby reiterates its commitment to securing and safeguarding the lives and property of residents in the FCT, as adequate deployment of personnel and equipment have been put on red alert, to contain any security situation within the FCT, which of course includes the University of Abuja”.

The FCT Police Command, therefore, urged members of the public to remain vigilant while going about their legitimate businesses.

It also urged residents to report any suspicious activity to the FCT Police Command’s emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653, adding that for complaints, residents should contact the FCT Police Command contact PCB at 09022222352 or CRU at 08107314192.
