The family of popular Nigerian Gospel singer and Welu Welu crooner, Sammie Okposo, has released an official statement announcing the passage to glory of their son on Friday, 25th November 2022.

The award-winning singer and music producer reportedly slumped on Friday morning and died at the young age of 51.

Signed by Hector Okposo, on behalf of the family, the statement said the Okposos are consoled because Sammie is happily singing with the angels in heaven.

“We are consoled because we know he is with Jesus Christ singing with the angels”, the statement said, adding; “We kindly request that the family is allowed to grieve peacefully at this time.”

The late Singer made headlines early in the year after he publicly apologized to his wife, Ozioma for cheating on her with another lady in the United States.

In the apology shared on his Instagram page, he lamented over the incident which he noted happened in 2021.

Accordingly, the singer explained that the development has seen him stepping aside from ministerial work until “full restoration”.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, said in a tweeted message; “The news of the death of Sammie Okposo today came to me as a rude shock.

“Sammie was full of life, distinguished himself in the entertainment industry, and, by extension, gave his best to bring smiles to our people.”
