SDP Axes National Dep Chair For Anti-Party Activities

BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has suspended its National Deputy Chairman, Abdul Ahmed Isaq for 10 months over allegations of anti-party activities and financial misappropriation.

A statement by SDP Ward chairman of Badarawa/Malali, Kaduna, Yunusa Sani Mohammad, accused Isaq of betraying the trust reposed on him by the Party and its teeming members in the ward and across the State.

“The leadership of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Badarawa/Malali Ward has suspended the party National Deputy Chairman, Abdul Ahmed Ishaq based on the following reasons: Anti-party activities and financial misappropriation.

“His suspension from his ward was ratified by all the Ward’s Executives (Excos) present at the last Ward Exco’s meeting.

“Abdul Ahmed Ishaq is expected to stay away from any activities of the party for the period of ten (10) months from 29th of May, 2018.

“The leadership of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Badarawa/Malali Ward appeals to all stakeholders of the party, both at the ward, local government, State and National level to see his suspension as part of the beauty of democracy since it is in line with our party’s constitution.

Ward Chairman Comrade Yunusa Sani Mohammed, who signed the suspension order, said the National Working Committee (NWC) of our party would be availed with all valid documents and other petitions against the suspended party chieftain.

“His suspension has shown the level of internal democracy, discipline and respect for constituted authority, at all level in our great party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Our party strongly believes in the rule of law, zero tolerance to corruption and impunity.”

Comrade Mohammed, had through a query dated May 15, 2018 to the suspended officer, said; “Our party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Badarawa/Malali ward, Kaduna, has received a petition on your involvement in anti-party activities and shoddy financial dealings, which is detrimental to the corporate existence of our great party and also amount to its sabotage.”

In the letter, the party further alleged; “That you are involved in political parties racketeering and hidden multiple political parties membership. As you are aware, the Electoral Act (2012 as amended) does not allow any citizen of our dear country to hold dual membership of two or more political parties at the same time, it is criminal.

“That you are heading, coordinating and promoting the Change Agenda of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ruling party under an organization, ‘The Buhari Ambassadors for Unity and Good Governance (BAUGOGO), which you formed. This indicates that you serve as double-face behind the scene.

Accusing Isaq of stage-managing and manipulating the financial affairs of the State party account to become one of the signatories, the letter further said; “That you cornered all the financial support meant to the state candidates of our party including your running mate during the 2015 elections, which amount to cheating.”

The Party gave the officer 48 hours to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

However, on May 23, 2018, the ward chairman, in a letter of suspension to Abdul Ahmed Ishaq, said; “Please, recalled that you were recently served with a query letter dated 15th May, 2018 where you are allegedly involved in financial impropriety, anti-party activities, couple with multiple political party affiliations which you blatantly refused to respond.

“Preliminary investigation and available documents presented to this office by the petitioners clearly shows you are culpable.”

“In view of the gravity of your actions, you are hereby suspended from the activities of the party for a period of 10 months from the date of issuance of this letter to you. This would enable proper investigation by fair minded committee complete its findings”, the letter stated
