Senate President Lawan Celebrates Sen David Mark @72
BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA –President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has described former Senate President, Senator David Bonaventure Mark as a man of ‘unblemished records’ in his service to Nigeria.
Lawan, who congratulated Senator Mark on the occasion of his 72nd birthday, praised him for a life of dedicated service to the nation.
He said the upper legislative chamber joins in celebration with him for witnessing the joyous occasion in good health.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi, the Senate President said; “Senator Mark’s contributions to nation-building in Nigeria cannot be forgotten, as he left unblemished records in his various calls as an Army General, a Minister of the Federal Republic and a Distinguished Senator.”
“It is on record that the tenure of Senator Mark as President of the Senate was marked by unprecedented stability and smooth legislative business,” Lawan said.
Senator Lawan rejoiced with the family, friends and political associates of Senator Mark and wished him more years of contributions to the development of his fatherland.
Born on April 10, 1948, David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark (GCON) retired from the Nigerian Army as Brigadier General.
Senator Mark, a chieftain of Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was Senate President for eight years between 2007 and 2015.
