Nigerian airline Air Peace has accused Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North senatorial district in the National Assembly of spreading outright misinformation and falsehoods against it.
Air Peace had on Wednesday, June 11, condemned what it described as the “unruly activities” of an unnamed “prominent politician” who it alleged assaulted its staff and disrupted operations at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed Airport.
While the airline deliberately did not mention the name of the individual connected to the alleged “unruly activities”, a trending video on X and WhatsApp strongly suggested that the individual being referred to was Senator Adams Oshiomhole, thereby prompted Nigerians to call for his real identification.
As a result, Senator Oshiomhole later in Abuja accused the airline of extorting passengers, saying that he arrived the airport early enough for his flight, but was made to miss his flight.
However, Air Peace in another statement on Wednesday night, debunked Oshiomhole’s claims and challenged him to provide evidence.
The airline also called on the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), to make available the CCTV footage of the episode to show Nigerians the true situation of what took place.
The statement further said; “Our attention has been drawn to the deliberate falsehood being peddled by Senator Adams Oshiomhole against Air Peace.
“The Senator lied blatantly when he accused Air Peace of extorting its passengers. We challenge Senator Oshiomhole to bring one evidence of a passenger that was extorted,” it said.
