Shift In Poll Will Allow For Free, Fair Polls – Senator Sodangi

BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA –  Senator Abubakar Sodangi, who represented Nasarawa west senatorial district in the National Assembly between 1999 and 2007, has said that it is better for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the polls if there are problems in order to have free and fair elections in the country.
Sodangi also said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is a bad product that has lost electoral value in the present political dispensation.
Speaking to newsmen is his country home, in Nasarawa Local Government, Sodangi urged Nigerians to ignore any outcry by the opposition PDP over the postponement of the 2019 general election by Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
He served as senator on the platform of the PDP, said his former party has crumbled and lack any basis to critisize the process. He however urged Nigerians to have faith and be patient with INEC over the postponement.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, said APC was fully ready for the polls and would have been victorious by now.

According to him; “It has happened and it has been announced by INEC whose responsibility is to conduct free, fair, acceptable and credible elections.
“Electorate are fully ready to come out en mass and cast their votes for President Muhammad Buhari because the president has done well especially in the area of corruption, economy and security.
“Also we have stakeholders like the domestic and international observers who are here in the country to observe the election to ensure its credibility.
“If INEC thinks that there is logistic problem, let us be patient with the commission in order to have free and fair election.
“It is better to shift the election and do it correctly. It is in view of this that I want to appeal to the electorates and other Nigerians to be patient with INEC on election postponement.”
