BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA –The National President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Hon Jonathan Asake, has inaugurated the Union’s political committee, with a charge on members to evolve a political roadmap for the area ahead of 2023 general elections and beyond.

Speaking at the formal launch of the committee that took place at SOKAPU National Headquarters in Kaduna on Monday, Hon Asake appealed to them not to be partisan, but engage with various groups to ensure that the Zone was not left behind in the process leading to the emergence of political leadership in the future.

Describing the deliberate choice of members as hinged on their personal track records, Hon Asake called on the committee to explore areas of partnership within the state and across the country to broaden the political space of the region for effective results.

The setting up of the membership of this committee, the SOKAPU National President noted, was hinged on getting persons who have shown sterling track records in serving the interest of the zone and possess the capacity to evolve a roadmap in consultation with various groups within and outside of Southern Kaduna in combating some of the challenges confronting us as a people.

Taking into cognisance of the various problems bedeviling our area, especially on the issue of insecurity that has turned Kaduna State into an epicentre, “we are confident that if Southern Kaduna gets it right, then Kaduna State will get it right; and if Kaduna State gets it right, Nigeria will get it right”.

On his part, the Chairman of the Committee, who is Nigeria’s first Professor in Instructional Technology Professor Andrew Nkom, said the Committee would work as a family towards putting an enduring political structure that will make Southern Kaduna relevant in politics not only in the state but the country.
