Sokoto State Government To Collaborate With Korea In Key Sectors Of Economy

BY EVELYN DADU, ABUJA – The Sokoto State government has commenced strategic collaborations and partnerships with the Republic of South Korea towards boosting the economy of the state.

In this wise, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, accompanied by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Bashir Gidado Jegawa, Thursday met with the South Korean envoy to Nigeria, Ambassador Lee In-tae and the Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Woochan Chang at the Korean embassy in Abuja.

Both parties deliberated on keys areas of development that include education, health, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as well as trade and investment as potential areas of cooperation.

A statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Tambuwal on Media and Publicity, Muhammad Bello, indicated that a Korean company was in the old Sokoto State in the early 1980s during which it built Shukura Hotel, Gusau Hotel and Grand Fishing Hotel in Sokoto, Gusau and Argungu all located in present day Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states respectively.
