BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – The outgoing governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano on Wednesday formally handed over official government documents to the incoming governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo at the Government House, Awka.

Witnessed by the outgoing Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Solo Chukwudebelu, and some aides of Prof Soludo, the occasion also had Governor Obiano treating his successor to a guided tour around offices in the State Government House.

Additionally, Governor Obiano took Soludo through important documents capturing the assets and liabilities of the state, as well as ongoing projects across the state.

Soludo will be formally sworn in on Thursday, March 17, 2022, as the fifth civilian governor of Anambra State in a ceremony arranged to be low-key with only about 50 persons officially invited to be present.

The arrangement is in line with the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor’s wish that he would prefer a quiet oath-taking ceremony devoid of the usual fanfare associated with such events.

Close associates of the Professor of Economics had hinted on Tuesday night that he would make his first key appointments as governor after the oath-taking ceremony.

However, there has been no confirmation whether the new governor would still keep his earlier promise of driving to the slum city of Okpoko near Onitsha on assuming office.

Insider sources said there are strong indications Prof Soludo may commence official duties immediately after the swearing-in ceremony.
