South-East: NAF Deploys Planes For Python Dance II
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed some of its air assets, including the Alpha Jet aircraft, to support on-going Nigerian Army’s Exercise, ‘Egwu Eke II’ (Python Dance II).
The air arsenal deployment to its 115 Special Operations Group in Port Harcourt is in line with the NAF’s commitment to national peace and security.
NAF’s Director of Public Relations, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya said the development is meant to provide the necessary air cover to the ground troops to enhance overall operational cohesion and efficiency within the South-East theatre of operation.
The Military operation, code-named ‘Python Dance II’ officially flagged-off on September 15, 2017 and covers the entire South East geo-political zone of the country.
Adesanya said NAF’s involvement in the Python Dance operation became inevitable given the wide expanse of the exercise area and request by the Nigerian Army for close air surveillance and support.
