BY EDMOND ODOK – These are quite interesting political times as the African Action Congress (AAC) has formally written to President Bola Tinubu requesting permission to use the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja, for the Inauguration of Omoyele Sowore’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council on November 11, 2026.
Additionally, the party also demanded food, drinks, and logistical support for 5,000 local and international participants.
The ACC’s application, conveyed in a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by its National Secretary Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, was addressed to President Tinubu as the recipient
Key details of the request include the venue which is the Presidential Villa (Aso Rock), Abuja and entertainment for the guest during the programme.
Defending the rationale behind its request, the ACC explained that its request was “based on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, fairness, and equal treatment of political parties.”
The party further cited “arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement” hosted recently inside the Presidential Villa.
Arguing that public institutions should serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination, the ACC said: “public facilities and state resources should be accessible to all political parties rather than reserved exclusively for the party in power.”
Meanwhile, as at press time, the Presidency has met the request with stony silence.
However, behind closed doors, insiders hinted that top officials of the administration are openly laughing off the request, branding it as pure amusement and the “most bizarre demand” ever made by an opposition party.
