House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have taken a swipe at their Republican Party colleagues, urging them to accept the realities facing them that the 2020 United States election has been won and lost.

Addressing a joint press conference on Capitol Hill, the duo called on Republican lawmakers to accept results of the presidential election with dignity

Commenting on the votes recount in the battleground states as demanded by embattled President Donald Trump and his team of lawyers, the Democratic speaker accused Republicans of being “engaged in an absurd circus right now refusing to accept reality.”

She said rather than their current circus show, attention should be on the need to pass another coronavirus relief bill.

“Stop the circus and get to work on what really matters to the American people”, Pelosi urged

However, Senator Schumer, while putting it even more plainly, told reporters, “The election is over. It wasn’t close. President Trump lost.”

The Senate Minority Leader added, “Senate Republicans, stop denying reality … and start focusing on COVID.”

Schumer also argued Republicans were defending the President’s refusal to concede for “no other reason but fear of Donald Trump.”
