The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have cautioned Nigerians to refrain from using the “No de gree for anybody” slogan that has now gone viral.

The Force spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, who gave the warning in Abuja, said the Police authorities are concerned about the ideology associated with the slang that has suddenly become very popular among the nation’s growing youth population.

Addressing a press conference at the Louis Edet Force Headquarters while parading 67 suspects for various crimes, Adejobi noted thus; “Let me say it again on this note that the new slogan for 2024 for our young ones is ‘No Dey Gree For Anybody‘ and we have been informed from our intelligence that this slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may likely cause problem across the country.

No Dey Gree For Anybody is being seen as just normal talk, but in the security business, in the security community, we have seen it as a very very dangerous slogan that can trigger crisis”

In a viral video on Thursday, the Force Spokesman further explained that the slogan, originally intended to convey a commitment to one’s convictions, has the potential to incite mayhem and violence nationwide.

He said despite having its origin in a gospel song titled; ‘I No Go Gree‘ by Sister Agatha Moses, the slogan is not a harmless phrase but a potentially dangerous one.”

Currently on social media, numerous memes and posts are already circulating to highlight the slang. Among the very popular ones is that featuring a tricycle being overtaken by a large vehicle to symbolise disregard for the right of way.

Also, it is noted that the slang now has a logo with its inscriptions on clothes and other public items.
