Struggling Super Eagles Beat Seychelles 3-1

Again, the Coach Gernot Rohr-tutored Super Eagles failed to impress as they faltered to a 3-1 victory over Seychelles in their last Group E match of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

The match played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Friday saw the team’s top scorer and China-based Odion Ighalo scoring a first half penalty to put Nigeria ahead in the 29th minute.

But a howler from keeper Francis Uzoho in the lackluster encounter gifted the visitors an equalizer in the 41st minute as Boby Melaine lifted the ball beyond an utterly confused Eagles’ defence line.

However, Galatasaray of Turkey’s striker, Henry Onyekuru restored Eagles’ lead early in the second half with a beautiful nodded goal off a left wing floater by new kid on the block, Jamilu Collins

Levante forward, Moses Simon put the game beyond the Pirates in the dying minutes when he spectacularly drove home the third goal after coming on to replace the injured Ighalo

The final group’s tie to determine the second placed team will hold on Sunday in Sfax, Tunisia between host Libya and South Africa.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are scheduled to take on the Pharaohs of Egypt in an International friendly on Wednesday, March 27 at the same venue.
