President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chief of Staff (CoS), Femi Gbajabiamila, says Nigerians will soon reap the benefits of fuel subsidy removal amid the current biting economic situation in the country.

Gbajabiamila, who is the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, said the President and his administration remained committed to lifting Nigerians out of poverty within the shortest possible time.

He said the tough economic situation is a universal issue that must be handled with all caution, but the Tinubu-led administration, being concerned about the people’s plight, is working round the clock to improve the welfare status of all Nigerians.

The Presidential aide gave the assurance after casting his vote at Poling Unit 014, Ward 08 at Elizabeth Fowler Memorial School, Surulere, Lagos state, in the House of Representatives by-election on Saturday, noting that the challenges we are facing arose due to some missing fundamentals.

According to him; “It is those economic fundamentals that this administration is trying to put in place, including fuel subsidy removal which was a national concession that it must be removed. I assure you that the benefits of subsidy removal will be reaped soon. It’s not immediate but the President knows what he is doing, and at the end of the day, everything will work out fine.”

The former Speaker, who also touched on the issue of Insecurity, urged Nigerians to support the President and his administration rather than pointing fingers and making negative criticisms, noting that security remained everyone’s concern and must be addressed as such.

Further assuring that the President is deeply concerned and at the forefront of making things work positively in the country, the CoS said; “This administration needs full cooperation of the people and in so doing, we will all defeat these kidnappers and terrorists. Therefore, we need to come together for the better and by so doing, make Nigeria a great nation that we will all be proud of.”

On the by-election, he noted that the process had been peaceful and smooth from the point of accreditation and voting, even as he urged the winner to be focused, dedicated, and committed to the people of Surulere.

While pointing out that legislative work comes with a lot of experience and having the people’s interest at heart, the former lawmaker said; “It may seem difficult at first but once you put your head down, and focus on the people, especially on national issues, success is assured.”

For the seat, which became vacant following Gbajabiamila’s resignation after being appointed the President’s Chief of Staff, a total of 121,111 votes are up for grabs by candidates from 12 different political parties.
