Military coup oust Al-Bashir

BY EMMAN OZOEMENA

The Republic of Sudan has been in the news in the last couple of weeks. Social and political cohesion seems completely broken down with several countries currently evacuating their nationals out of the conflict ridden Sudan.

At this time, several analysts point to Sudan as another case of a failed state unfolding, with the prospect of a full blown war looming, nothing is done to avert it.

But then, why is the international community siting by watching the country sleep walking on the path to disaster, and implosion. Expectedly, it will be yet another humanitarian crisis with its attendant refuges, displacements, economic and social crisis already in sight.

But then, the power elites are prancing around with bloated ambitions and ego which are fuelling the crisis through their actions and inactions. It is also obvious that the elite of Sudan are complicit in acting as proxies and sidekicks of some imperial over lords in what looks like proxy war on the African soil.

The real question are these: Who will save Sudan? Can this Africa nation save itself from this impending crisis? What role can the African Union and other regional groups play towards the restoration of peace, law and order as well as civil governance in Sudan? We wish that the Looming danger is tamed early enough to avert another disaster on the African continent.

The time to act is now!
