BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Suspected ritualist on Thursday evening, murdered and removed some body parts of a three year old girl in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The mutilated body of the little girl was discovered without the two eyes as well as the vagina within Ningi township days after she was declared missing by her parents.
Reports indicated that the three year old girl, Asiya Zakari Ya’u was missing for two days before her mutilated body was found dumped along a path in Ningi.
Her parents, who are residents of Sabuwar Denawa town within Ningi township received the news of the recovery of the dead body of the girl through some Almajiri boys studying in a Qur’anic school in the area.
The matter was accordingly reported to the Police authorities in Ningi who immediately moved to the scene, evacuated the mutilated body of Asiya to the General Hospital, Ningi for medical examination and confirmation of her death that was confirmed by a medical doctor.
As at Saturday, March 16, 2024, no arrest had been made by the police but, efforts were on to trace the culprits in order to bring them to book.
Meanwhile, the mutilated body of Asiya has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites even as the Police Command in Bauchi State confirmed the brutal killing of the three year old girl for suspected ritual purposes.
The Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili in a telephone conversation with our Correspondent on Saturday said that the Police in Ningi received a report from one Malam Saleh informing the command of a lifeless body of small girl around the graveyard in Ningi.
SP Wakili said upon the reported case, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led his men to the scene and evacuated the body to Ningi General Hospital.
The police spokesperson further said that a medical doctor at the hospital confirmed the death of the girl after which the body was released to the parents.
Wakili said the result of the post-mortem is being awaited to determine the exact cause of death even as he denied the removal of any of her little girl’s body parts.
According to the police; “Medical reports has it that her body parts are intact. But because the body has started decomposing, some of the parts too must have decomposed”.
Wakili added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed has directed for thorough investigation of the issue in order to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act and bring them to justice.
He described the development as pathetic particularly against the backdrop of the holy month of Ramadan when Muslims are engaged in fasting for mercy of Allah, adding that a few bad eggs are using it to commit heinous crime.
