Tale Of Two Kano Emirs: Bayero In First Public Trip Outside Mini Palace
The intriguing story of the two Emirs presiding over the affairs of Kano Emirate continued on Saturday as the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, attended the annual peace prayer for the nation organised by the Isyaku Rabiu family in the ancient city.
This is against the backdrop that the Holy Qur’an is usually recited up to 3000 times within the first Islamic month to pray for peace, prosperity and progress of the country.
Quite unexpectedly, Alhaji Bayero witnessed the last day of the prayers for the year in his first official outing since returning to Kano following the now controversial dethronement by the Kano State government.
Reports indicated that the 15th Emir moved in a graceful procession from the Nassarawa mini palace to the Isyaku Rabiu mosque at Goron Dutse and also took the same route back home to the heavily guarded palace.
The development was the first time embattled Emir Bayero ventured out publicly from the Nassarawa mini palace where he now resides following the court’s annulment of his dethronement by the Governor Abba Yusuf-led administration in the North West State.
Interestingly, about 72 hours earlier, the 16th Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi also had what is regarded within the government circles as his first official public engagement in the ancient city following the court ruling reversing his reinstatement to the reverred throne.
The outing saw him moving from the Gidan Rumfa Palace to the State Government House where he met with the newly appointed second class Emirs of Gaya, Rano and Karaye.
The three new second class royal fathers are Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, Emir of Karaye; Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, Emir of Gaya; and Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, Emir of Rano
Before these latest appointments, Alhaji Karaye was the District Head of Rogo; Alhaji Umar was the District Head of Bunkure; and Alhaji Gaya was the recently dethroned emir of the defunct Gaya emirate.
The development follows the signing of the Kano State Emirate Council Establishment Bill 2024 into law by the governor on Tuesday.
