BY MSHELIA ADAMU, MAIDUGURI – In a brave and decisive move, officers and men of the Nigerian Police Counter-terrorism operatives through a counter action against insurgency, successfully rescued two soldiers who were abducted by Boko Haram fighters in Borno State.
It was gathered that at about 14.30 hours of July 13, 20120, an Army Patrol Team was attacked by Boko Haram along Auno Road and killed two soldiers and kidnapped others while carting away two of military’s gun truck, AK 47Rifles and unspecified numbers of ammunition.
Forefront News also gathered that the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Nigerian Police on “Pin Down Point operation, at the area went after the Boko Haram terrorists and after a gun battle, recovered one gun-truck, rifles and rescued two soldiers alive.
Information pieced together indicate that the terrorists in an ambush, killed some military personnel and also abducted others after an attack on soldiers on a patrol.
This is coming on the heels of reports that dare devil Boko Haram terrorists attempted to take over an Army barrack in Maiduguri which was met with stiff resistance and eventually repelled by the Army in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Monday.
Meanwhile, in another development, Nigerian troops have thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram terrorists to seize an Army barracks in Maiduguri.
The terrorists, it was gathered made spirited attempt to capture the 333 Artillery Barracks of the Nigerian Army but were resisted after heavy exchange of gun fire that lasted for almost two hours between Monday night and early hours of Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
