BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA -Pandemonium broke out on Monday in Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State during a visit by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for on-the-spot assessment of recent attack by some bandits and unknown armed men on the area, with the people calling for the immediate removal or resignation from office by Deputy Governor, Mr Crowder Seth.

The Deputy Governor, who was on the entourage of Governor Fintiri, was booed by the youths and elders who accused him of being one of the masterminds behind the numerous attacks against them and their communities.

“We are aware of the Deputy governor’s evil alliance and clandestine romance with the suspected criminals and mastermind of recent attacks on Dumna-Boshikiri axis of Guyuk local government Alhaji Halilu popularly known as Sarki Yaki (SY) of Lafiya Lamurde.

“We are demanding the removal of Mr Deputy Governor and the arrest of the alleged terrorist who is fingered by all as the chief sponsor of crises in this axis,” they said.

According to one of the protesting members of the community, who requested not to have his name in print, “When the Deputy Governor visited the locality to deliberate with stakeholders of Guyuk LGA on how to restore peace in the area, he did not give us the chance to state our own side of the story.”

At the venue, the protesting youths carried placard with inscription ‘Deputy Governor is harbouring Halilu SY a criminal’, ‘We support Governor Fintiri, but the deputy governor is complicating issues’ and
‘Deputy Governor is harbouring war monger Halilu (SY)’.

Reports indicated that immediately Fintiri mentioned the name of the deputy, the crowd went into a frenzy and instantly rejected his inclusion. An eyewitness told our reporter that the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) did not mince words in telling the governor that one of his henchmen and man Friday was profiting from the intractable crisis.

Efforts to speak with the media aide to the Deputy Governor, George Kushi was futile as his number was switched off.

Also an SMS sent to him for his reaction on the matter was not responded to as at the time of filing this story.

However, the Press Secretary to Governor Fintiri, Humwashi Wonosikou, in a phone conversation denied such development, adding that “nothing like that happened”.
