Terrorists’ Hostage Chief Negotiator, Tukur Mamu, Arrested By Interpol In Egypt

The chief negotiator with terrorists for the release of the unfortunate victims of the Abuja-Kaduna bound train, Tukur Mamu was on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt, arrested and detained by Interpol.

Mamu, who is the publisher of Kaduna based Desert Herald newspaper and media consultant to Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna based Islamic cleric, was arrested while awaiting a connecting flight to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and subsequently detained by Interpol at the Cairo International Airport.

Mamu has been involved in negotiating with terrorists that attacked the Abuja-Kaduna bound train as well as abducted over 58 passengers.

It was gathered that he was being deported from Egypt by Interpol and is expected to arrive Nigeria after which he may also be interrogated by officials of Department of State Security (DSS).

It was also gathered that Mamu was accompanied on the ill-fated trip by his two wives and one other person.

Mamu had announced his withdrawal as the chief negotiator for the release of the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack saying that his life was being threatened by the Nigerian government.

The terrorists are yet to release the remaining 27 of the victims of the March 29, 2022 train attack.
