Armed bandits on Monday, November 24, 2025, stormed Yan Chibi and Biresawa villages in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State and abducted 10 people, including women and girls.
The deadly bandits, according to some residents of the villages, carried out their raids between 11pm and 12 midnight, and operated for hours without any form of resistance.
An witness said that the attackers, who came through Tsundu village, left families in anguish, with no news on the victims’ whereabouts, saying that the unfortunate incident has heightened fears not only in the area but in neighbouring Kano towns that share borders with Katsina State.
One of the residents who spoke on condition of anonymity, noted that the armed bandits who rode on motorbikes raided villages and abducted eight residents.
The resident further said that the attackers were fully armed with guns, and abduct his neighbour Umma, 17-year-old daughter Fati, his brother’s wife, and two other women.
Relatedly, the second raid by the bandits took place in Biresawa Tsundu village where five people were equally abducted taken from the community.
As at the time of this report, whereabouts of the bandits and their victims are unknown.
The Commissioner of Police for the Kano State police command, CP Ibrahim Bakori held a series of meetings with community leaders and discussed security arrangements at the Kano borders, especially villages along Shanono, Tsanyawa, and Rogo Local Government Areas.
CP Bakori promised to reinforce the ongoing operations in manpower, equipment, and emphasised the need for sustained vigilance in the area.
