Vice President Kashim Shettima has said that there is no discord between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that his loyalty to the President was “absolute and unalloyed”.

Shettima said the partnership between Tinubu and himself represents a new era of harmonious collaboration and a stark contrast to the strained relationships often seen between past presidents and their deputies.

A statement by Stanley Nkwocha, spokesperson to Vice President Shettima, dismissed reports of an alleged discord between Tinubu and Shettima, saying that the rumours were baseless and misleading.

Nkwocha specifically said that the rumours of a discord were mere fabrications aimed at undermining the strong relationship between President Tinubu and his deputy, Shettima.

The statement said that Shettima’s recent praise of Tinubu, where he called the President a “good soul” and a leader Nigerians can rely on, was sincere and reflected the Vice President’s genuine admiration for his boss.

Nkwocha while speaking on the occasion of Shettima’s 58th birthday, pointedly said that there was no tension between Tinubu and Shettima.

The statement stressed that no Vice President in Nigeria’s history has enjoyed as much trust and support from their principal as Shettima does from President Tinubu, adding that this sentiment is shared by many observers who have closely monitored the dynamics within the Presidency.

Nkwocha praised Shettima for his consistent support of President Tinubu, describing him as a model of dedication and commitment and as such castigated the assertions of discord.

Nkwocha also refuted recent conspiracy theories suggesting that Shettima is being sidelined, asserting that these claims are entirely disconnected from the reality at Aso Rock, where the Vice President continue to work closely with the President in driving their shared vision for Nigeria.
