Thunder Storm Hit Police Area Command In Taraba

BY AMEH IDUJAGI, WUKARI – Officers and men serving at the Police Area Command, Wukari in Taraba state were on Thursday night thrown into confusion and serious panic following a severe thunder strike during a heavy down pour.

Though no life was lost but a mighty tree in front of the command that used to provide shade to the police personnel and visitors to the command was shattered by the thunder storm.

Some police men on duty at the time of the thunder storm stroke, told our correspondent that the thunder sound was very terrifying which compelled them to scamper for safety.

“We were in our offices when the rain was falling and we suddenly had a loud sound like bomb after a bright lightening, and everyone went into hiding, until after some minutes that we came out and saw the tree at the front of office shattered,” one of the policemen on duty said.

Our correspondent who visited the Police Area Command in Wukari on Friday morning, saw how the thunder pieced the big tree at the command.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Wukari Local Government Area, Mr. Adi Daniel has visited the scene of the incident and had promised to mobilize youths to clear the debris of the tree.
