Tinubu Appoints Ajuri Ngelale Special Adviser, Media and Publicity
BY EDMOND ODOK – In a move aimed at further boosting his engagement with the Nigerian public, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Chief Ajuri Ngelale as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
A terse statement by Willie Bassey, Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), said the appointment takes effect on July 31, 2023, and would terminate at the end of this administration unless otherwise decided by the President.
The full statement, dated July 31, 2023, and tagged “PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF AJURI NGELALE AS SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE PRESIDENT ON MEDIA & PUBLICITY” read thus; “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the appointment of Chief Ajuri Ngelale as Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
“The appointment takes effect from 31st July, 2023 and would terminate at the end of this administration unless otherwise decided by the President.
“The President urges him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the new assignment.”

Ngelale was Senior Special Assistant (SSA) for Public Affairs in the Presidency in the immediate past administration and worked in the office of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
His appointment comes on the heels on Dele Alake’s exit as the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications & Strategy following his nomination as a Minister.
Ngelale, who served as the Assistant Principal Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the 2023 elections, was also a former staff of DAAR Communication, owners of AIT and Ray Power, as well as Channels Television.
Meanwhile, in a tweet on Monday night, while reacting to his new job, Ngelale said he was “humbled and honoured”.
He further wrote thus; “I am most humbled and honoured by H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recognition of the need for more hard work ahead as I have been appointed as his Official Spokesperson & Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity. I will give my best as always. I love you all.”
