BY EDMOND ODOK – President Bola Tinubu has offered his condolences to the Government and people of Bayelsa State following the recent death of their Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo.
Ewhrudjakpo reportedly collapsed on December 12, 2025, and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, where he was confirmed dead.
The condolence message is conveyed in a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga on Monday in Abuja
In the statement, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt sympathies to Governor Douye Diri, the wife of the late Deputy Governor, Mrs Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, his children and associates.
The President described Senator Ewhrudjakpo as a diligent and patriotic public servant who served Bayelsa State with commitment and selflessness.
He recalled that the late Deputy Governor previously served as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and later represented Bayelsa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
According to Tinubu, the late Deputy Governor made significant contributions to infrastructure development in the state and played an important role in lawmaking and policy formulation at the federal level.
The President urged the Bayelsa State Government to preserve the legacy of service and dedication left by the late deputy governor.
Additionally, he prayed for the repose of Ewhrudjakpo’s soul and asked God to grant comfort and strength to his family and the people of Bayelsa in their moment of grief.
