BY EDMOND ODOK – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja, the nation’s capital on Thursday for Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, the lesser Islamic pilgrimage.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Bayo Onanuga, who announced the travel plans in a statement on Wednesday said the journey offers the Nigerian leader a dedicated window for spiritual reflection and devotion in the Holy City.
Onanuga said the visit would also be an opportunity for the President to seek divine guidance as well as “prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and continued progress.”
The statement explained that while in Makkah, President Tinubu would perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people.
Once in Makkah, the President will undertake the traditional rites of Umrah, offering specific intercessions for the nation’s unity and economic progress. He is expected to return to Abuja early next week upon concluding the spiritual rites.
“Before leaving Abuja, President Tinubu will commission at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport some equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its operations,” the statement read.
