Tinubu Moves To Align With Govs For Review Of Minimum Wage
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stressed the need for federal and state governments to take a critical and comprehensive look at the minimum wage as well as strengthen the source and application of the nation’s revenue.
This was as he reiterated that the current multiple exchange rates in the country would soon be streamlined for an enhanced management of the economy.
Tinubu, who stated these on Friday at a meeting with members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), promised to carry out a review of the minimum wage to align with the current economic realities facing the country.
Speaking when he received in audience members of the Forum led by its chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Tinubu said the federal and State governments need to do some arithmetic and soul searching on the minimum wage.
The president said; “We will have to take a look at that together and the revenue. We must strengthen the source and application of our revenue.
“If we work together, the Nigeria of our dreams is not far away. Rest assured that we will not have multiple exchange rates anymore.
“I have inherited the assets and liabilities of my predecessor. This is the first time you entered the Council Chambers, and it is my first time too for a meeting.
“As progressives and thinkers under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, you have a role to play in educating our people and making sure we manage ourselves,” he said.
