BY COBHAM NSA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved re-appointment of Amos Isaac Azi Esq as Chairman of the Investments and Securities Tribunal (IST).
This is as the President also okayed the appointment of new members intended to strengthen and revitalize service delivery by the Tribunal.
A statement by Maria Anodere, Acting Head of IST’s Corporate Affairs Department said the development follows recommendations from the Minister of State for Finance, pursuant to section 315 and 319 (2) of the Investments and Securities Act 2025.
Aside from the Chairman, Amos Isaac Azi Esq, the statement listed the new appointees as: Gboyega Oyekanmi – Member; Felix Onwuneme – Member; Shehu Lawal Mandiya – Member; Robert Uchenna Okwuego – Member; and Osaze Ize – Iyamu – Member
Others are Ummahani Ahmad Amin – Member; Ali Sadiq Mohammed – Member; Olatunde M. Amolegbe – Member; Udegbulam Athanatius Chukwuemeka – Member; Orya Ungwaga Roberts – Member; and Kamarudee Oladosu – Member
According to the statement, “The appointment marks a significant step towards strengthening the adjudicatory framework of the Nigerian Capital Market, as the new Members bring their rich experience in Capital Market, Law, Finance and public service to enhance the efficiency of the Tribunal in justice delivery and in promoting investors’ confidence.”
As a specialized adjudicatory body established to ensure speedy resolution of disputes and enforcement of rights arising from investments and securities transactions, the IST plays a vital role in safeguarding fairness, transparency, and integrity in Nigeria’s financial market, thereby boosting investor confidence.
