Tinubu Sacks Chief Executives Of BPE, FCCPC

BY EDMOND ODOK – President Bola Tinubu has sacked the Chief Executive Officers of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) in what the Presidency described as conforming with plans to restructure and reposition critical Federal Government agencies for effective service delivery.

The sacked duo are Mr. Babatunde Irukera, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FCCPC, and Mr Alexander Ayoola Okoh, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of BPE.

According to the Presidency, both officers lost their jobs as part of the government’s bold moves towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions,

A statement issued on Monday and signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, said; “the two dismissed Chief Executives are directed to hand over to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers.”

“By this directive of the President, their removal from office takes immediate effect” the statement added
