Tragedy As Ondo LG Worker Dies In Office

Tragedy struck on Friday at Bolorunduro in Ondo East Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State as a middle-aged man slumped and died in his office.

Reports indicated that the deceased, simply identified as Mathew, living at Elemosi in Ondo town, suddenly slumped and died a few minutes after arriving in his office for the day’s job.

According to his co-workers, the man had reported to the office on Friday and later proceeded to have his breakfast in his vehicle parked inside the LGA.

Giving further details on the tragic incident, one of the co-workers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said everyone around was shocked when Matthew returned to the office and joined his colleagues in some discussion only to slump suddenly and all efforts at reviving him failed.

The co-worker said; “He had no sign of ailment at all. This is shocking to us. We had to rush him to the hospital at Bolorunduro but doctors confirmed that he was dead on arrival. His death is just beyond our imagination”

Confirming the incident when contacted, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Police Command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said on Saturday that investigation was already on to identify the real cause of worker’s death, adding that his remains have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

Meanwhile, efforts at reaching the deceased’s wife were unsuccessful with other immediate family members pleading that she be left alone to grieve her loss.

However, a close family member hinted that they were already planning the burial rites as the immediate family of the deceased was not interested in keeping his corpse for long.
