Treasury, Nigerian Navy Bang On Robust Relationship
BY GLORIA USMAN, ABUJA – The Federal Treasury will continue to ensure timely release of funds to the Nigerian Navy and the Armed Forces to enable them record greater successes in securing Nigeria’s territorial waters and sovereignty.
Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, gave the assurance of support during a visit to the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral A. Z. Gambo at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Idris, who acknowledged the enormous responsibility on the Nigerian Navy and the Armed Forces, said the Treasury will not relent in supporting them to record more successes in executing their constitutional mandate.
A statement signed by OAGF’s Director of Information, Press and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, quoted the Accountant General as saying; “The Nigerian Navy and other Armed Forces have kept the country one in terms of discharge of their duties.
“Your responsibility is enormous, you need every support. We will continue to support you by giving you the necessary tools for you to deliver.”
Idris congratulated the Naval Chief on his appointment and stressed that no effort will be sparred in sustaining the existing cordial relationship between the Nigeria Armed Forces and the Federal Treasury.
In his remarks, the CNS, Admiral A. Z. Gambo expressed delight at the AGF’s visit and lauded the robust relationship between the two sides
He assured that the current security challenges in the country are surmountable, adding; “it is now more action, less talk” as directed by the President.
The CNS also made a plea for improved welfare packages for officers and men in terms of infrastructure to accommodate Naval Ratings and Officers.
