The Kano State Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 nullified the election of Kano State governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir-Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The three-man panel of justices, led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, while delivering judgement on the petition filed by Nasiru Yusuf-Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held that the margin of votes scored by the NNPP was invalid and was not conducted in compliance with the Electoral Act 2022.
The three man panel accordingly, declared Nasiru Yusuf-Gawuna of the APC as the valid winner of the Governorship election conducted on March 18, 2023.
