Information reaching Forefront News indicated that troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully eliminated one of the most wanted notorious bandits’ leader, Kachalla Bello Kaura, during an operation at Goburawar Dawan Jiya village, situated in the Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

This was confirmed by a security analyst and Counter insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who revealed that the operation took place during a weeklong tactical raid and coordinated offensive campaign which resulted in the deaths of Kachalla Bello Kaura and several of his fighters in their hideout.

Makama said that Kachalla Bello Kaura was recognised as a key figure in terrorism, who was responsible for numerous deadly attacks across Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto States.

He further said that Kachalla was associated with the terror group Ansaruddin and was believed to have facilitated the group’s incursion into Bagega Forest and the Gando Game Reserve, where he reportedly received training in assembling and use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Kachalla Bello Kaura, who was born in Sunke village within Anka LGA, was the younger brother of the late Kachalla Alhaji Shadari, another infamous bandit kingpin who was eliminated by security forces in January 2023 during an operation in Sunke Forest.

Following Shadari’s death, Kaura took over leadership of the group and continued to orchestrate violent attacks in Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi LGAs of Zamfara State.

Kachalla Kaura was also linked to cross-border assaults in parts of Kebbi and Sokoto States and was also attributed to Lakurawa by security agencies.

Security sources also confirmed that the operation was conducted after weeks of surveillance and coordinated intelligence efforts, thereby marking a significant blow against the banditry network.
