Former governor of Osun State and immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has declared that growing public resentment and intolerance toward opposition voices by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), will make President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lose the 2027 general elections.
This was as he said that in spite of the APC’s grandstanding, the ADC will by the grace of God take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria and in most of the states, saying that Tinubu and the APC will surely lose in 2027.
Aregbesola, who was a known confidant and political ally of President Tinubu, emphasised that if the APC was confident of its strength, it won’t be so fixated and deliberately hyped on hounding and hunting opposition political parties all over the country.
Aregbesola, who stated these on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital at the commissioning of the ADC State secretariat, stressed that the increasing clampdown on political opponents by the APC has exposed its deep fear of rejection at the polls.
In the words of Aregbesola; “They are harassing and intimidating our members nationwide — in Lagos, Kebbi, Kaduna, and elsewhere. If they are truly popular, they will be calm, but the reverse is the case. What does that tell you? They know they are not popular, and the party that will harvest their unpopularity is the ADC”.
He noted that the first reason that would lead to the APC and President Tinubu losing elections in 2027 is hinged on the fact that it has lost the confidence of the people, owing to the extreme hardship, insecurity, and intolerance that have reduced the masses that once supported them to a pitiable situation.
According to Aregbesola; “The second reason is that the party’s growing habit of intimidating the opposition reflects a fear of democratic competition, a weakness that will fuel voter backlash across the country”.
Speaking in turn at the occasion, former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, who recently dumped the PDP for the ADC, said the party’s emergence marked the beginning of a new political order.
Ahmed said noted that the emergence of the ADC is the beginning of a new direction in our political experience, saying that the ADC has come to stay, and poised to take over leadership of the country in 2027.
Also speaking, former Minister of Youth and Sports, who is the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said that the induced economic hardship under the APC would accelerate its fall.
Abdullahi said that the ADC represents a new people-driven movement that reflects the collective aspirations of Nigerians, adding that rising insecurity.
