BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – Super Falconets of Nigeria, Canada, Colombia, and DPR Korea have also advanced to the quarter-finals of the ongoing FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026.
In the round of 16 final four matches, Canada and Nigeria put up scintillating displays of football artistry against France and England while DPR Korea avenged their AFC Under-20 Women’s Asian Cup final defeat to Japan with a 2-0 clean sheet victory over their bitter rivals.
While Canada outclassed France 3-1 in their last 16 face-off, Nigeria was in devastating form as the humiliated England 3-0 in a confrontation that Super Falconets’ Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei (Nigeria) bagged the Visa Player of the Match.
However, it was heartbreak for hosts Poland as they succumbed to a late own goal, gifting Colombia a spot in the quarter-final round scheduled to kick off this weekend with FIFA confirming that the first match will be between Italy and South Korea on Saturday afternoon.
The second quarter-final match will have Spain trading tackle South American giants Brazil on Saturday evening, while Sunday, September 20, will see Canada battling DPR (North) Korea in the first match with Nigeria going up against a stubborn Colombian side in the second match of the day.

The winners are scheduled to feature in the semi-final matches that will take place on Wednesday, 23rd September while the third place play-off holds on Saturday, September 26 with the grand finale holding on Sunday, September 27, inside the 18,029 capacity Władysław Król Municipal Stadium, also known as the Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź, located in Łódź, Poland.
The upcoming Sunday finals will mark a major milestone for the stadium, capping off its role as one of the tournament’s four host cities. Over the course of the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, the venue will have cumulatively hosted 20 matches, cementing its position as a central hub for the world’s top young football talent.
