UBEC Plans Building Digital Schools Across Nigeria

BY TEMI OHAKWE, ABUJA – The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has said that as part of its efforts in actualizing its vision of digital basic education delivery in the country, it has commenced plans to build digital schools across the Nigeria.

The UBEC plan was rolled out by its Executive Secretary, Dr Hammid Bobboyi at the commissioning of Basic Education projects at the Federal University, Dutse in Jigawa state.

These were contained in a statement by the head of Media of UBEC, David Apeh, in which he quoted Dr Bobboyi as saying that schools will be purely digital with state of the art facilities for learning.

The UBEC Executive Secretary further said that a digital resource centre is also being constructed in Abuja to coordinate digital learning in the Basic Education sub-sector.

Bobboyi said; “When completed, the facilities will put the sub-sector on the digital map of the world”.

He also said that the partnership with Federal University, Dutse represents strategic engagement which will yield mutual benefit to both the university and UBEC adding that it would help to re-enforce and strengthen the Basic Education Sub-sector in Nigeria.

Earlier in her address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Fatima Batulu Mukhtar applauded the Executive Secretary, the Board and management of UBEC for the primary School Project and the early childhood care development and Education (ECCDE) centre in the University.
